On November 30th, 2024, we hosted our very own Buldak Ramen competition, bringing together students from all over Long Island for a positive, high energy, laughter-filled event. The event focused on the themes of teamwork and fun competition with a sub-theme of cultural food. Our event featured a wide array of activities, starting off with some icebreakers and then diving into charades, where we took turns acting out a word or phrase, the result of which was much laughter and enjoyment. Following this, we formed teams for the marshmallow toothpick challenge, where we each had to build the tallest structure using only marshmallows and toothpicks. The collaboration and creativity of each participant was on full-display here; however, one group emerged as the clear winner (see photos).
To top it all off, our highlight of the night was the highly anticipated Buldak Spicy Ramen eating competition, where four of our participants faced off to see who could finish the devilishly spicy noodles the quickest–with the winner receiving a $25 Visa gift card–while the rest of us looked on and cheered. Our enthusiasm combined with their vigor while eating created a very lively and exciting atmosphere that night. It wasn’t just who could tolerate spice the best, it was how the event as a whole fostered community bonding and friendly competition in a constantly supporting and inclusive environment.
Through the food, games, and laughter of our Buldak Ramen event, BUDS created an experience that not only entertained everyone present but also reflected our commitment to bringing the community together and building joyful, meaningful experiences that we can look back on years later.
